Latest Match ReportHill suffer from lack of trialsWestern Counties North Barton Hill 27 Berry Hill 20 BERRY Hill made a losing start in Western Counties North, but still managed to play some decent rugby in spells. They fought back well from 20-6 down, but couldn't overhaul a useful Barton Hill outfit on their own patch. The hosts had a big pack and started very strongly. They led 13-6 at the break, with Aaron Ryder kicking two penalties for the Foresters. Ryder made an encouraging debut, as did Rob Sargent, Rob Ellis and full-back Matt King, who looked composed throughout. Five minutes into the second-half, Berry Hill attacked deep inside Barton territory and a try looked on the cards. However, a stray pass saw possession lost and instead of levelling the scores up at 13-13, the home side extended their advantage to 20-6 with another touchdown. Still, Berry Hill kept trying to play rugby. They managed two tries through Dave Virgin and Richard Hobbs (pictured), with Ryder adding a further penalty. Coach Julian Horrobin said: "It's four weeks since we played Barkers Butts in our last trial so the fitness wasn't what it should have been. Barton Hill have been playing every week and it showed. "We played some good stuff at times and the new boys slotted in well. I thought Dave Virgin, at seven, was outstanding, but I was pleased with the entire back-row." |
